The Ministry of Environment and Forests had constituted a High Level Working Group under the Chairmanship of Dr. K. Kasturirangan to study the preservation of the ecology, environmental integrity and holistic development of the Western Ghats in view of their rich and unique biodiversity.
The draft notification issued by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests approving the Kasturirangan committee report.
The final notification will be issued only after eliciting the opinions of the States on the Kasturirangan report.
