Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the date of the commencement of examination of the Civil Services (IAS) Prelims 2015. The date of examination is August 23, 2015 and notification for the same is expected to be established by 16 May, 2015. The civil services exam is conducted at two levels: preliminary and main exam, the students who qualify in the preliminary exam can opt for the main exam and then go for the personality test or interview. The preliminary examination is an objective type exam conducted as a screening test for the mains exam.
Indian nationals who are between 21 to 32 years of age and have completed graduation from any recognized Indian university can apply for this exam. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Civil Services Examination to recruit graduates from India to 23 different services across the country.
The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is the administrative civil service established by the Government of India. In Union Government, State governments and public-sector undertakings, IAS officers have a responsible and integral role to play. The union government recruits IAS officers as per the recommendations by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and then they are posted under various state governments. An officer belonging to the Indian Administrative Service would be liable to serve anywhere in India or abroad either under the Central Government or State Government.
