Hello Guys.Since mains is just two months away it's time that you change your approach of reading articles or any other concept. We have seen that questions in mains are not straight forward and it needs thinking and structuring in just one or two minutes. But to do that in this much time requires practice and training of brain.
In all these days you must have been reading articles and making notes but ,when it comes to answer any question based on what you have read you might have struggled to formulate the answer within given time limit. Why this happens ? Here two things are important ability to recall what you have read on that particular topic and second ,ability to connect it with your previous knowledge related to that topic.
Now how you will do that in the examination hall if you do not do that on regular basis. We post important article from various sources but not everything in those articles are important, neither all the important things can be retained in the memory and even if you are able to retain all the facts ,not everything can be reproduced or written in the examination.
So what we will do is, post questions with the articles and what you have to do is read the article and then the question ,and try to form your answer.Even if you do not write the answer formulate the answer in your mind. This will help you assess yourself whether you have read the aricles and understood it correctly and even more important ,that you are able to connect it with background knowledge related to that topic.
In this way you will be able to not only retain what you have read but also reproduce in the exam.
It is not necessary that you read only according to the question given with the article. You can formulate your own question.Think over it , from the examiner's point of view. What could be asked from it.
UPSC is a journey where you constantly need to evolve. We will try to be by your side but you will have to walk on your own. All the Best.
