In an endeavour to strengthen Panchayati Raj in villages and ensure social harmony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan on the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar. The campaign started on
Dr. Ambedkar’s 125th Birth Anniversary on 14th April 2016 and close on Panchayati Raj Day on 24th April 2016. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and other dignitaries on the occasion. Modi campaign aims to generate nation-wide efforts to increase social harmony across villages, strengthen Panchayati Raj, promote rural development, and foster farmers’ progress. Hon’ble Prime Minister inaugurated the Gram Uday se Bharat Uday Campaign of 14th April 2016 at MHOW in Madhya Pradesh.

The Panchayat level programmes are:(1) Social Harmony Programme: 14 to 16 April 2016
I. On the occasion of the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar, in all Gram Panchayats, people will pay homage to Dr. Ambedkar and villagers will resolve to strengthen social harmony in the village.
II. Dr. Ambedkar’s life and his views about National unity will be discussed, and literature regarding Dr. Ambedkar will be distributed.
III. On this day, information about the schemes run by the government to promote social equity will be given. Exhibitions will also be organized.
Several Functions are being organized all over the country to remember contribution of Babasaheb in the building of the nation. The day is being observed as ‘Social Harmony Day”. Portraits of Babasaheb are being garlanded at village Panchayats and literature about his life and work is being distributed. Discussions about his teaching and work are also being held.
