UPSC IAS Exam 2016: Union Public Service Commission to release the official announcement for Civil Service (IAS) & IFoS Exam 2016 on 23 April 2016. Graduates, who have been waiting for one whole year, should go through the detailed notification, available at upsconline.nic.in, once before applying for the examination.
UPSC conducts IAS and IFoS Examination every year to recruit fresher talents into the administrative sector of the country. The Commission announces for the IAS Exam in the month of April/ May.
As per the UPSC exam calendar issued, the Commission will release the advertisement for IAS and IFoS Examination on 23 April 2016. Eligible candidates can submit their application till 20 May 2016. The preliminary examination for Civil Service (IAS) & IFoS will be held on 07 August 2016.
Before preparing themselves for IAS Exam 2016, candidates are advised to go through the requisites of Civil Services Notification carefully.

Applications are invited through online mode only. After submission of applications candidates are issued e-Admission Certificate three weeks before the commencement of the examination. The e-Admission Certificate will be made available in the Commission’s website for downloading by the candidates.
Eligibility Criteria for Eligibility for IAS Exam 2016:
The candidate must hold a degree of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.
Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications which are recognised by the Government as equivalent to professional and technical degree would also be eligible for admission to the examination.
Candidates who have passed the final professional M.B.B.S. or any other Medical Examination but have not completed their internship by the time of submission of their applications for the Civil Services (Main) Examination, will be provisionally admitted to the Examination provided they submit along with their application a copy of certificate from the concerned authority of the University/Institution that they had passed the requisite final professional medical examination.
Number of Attempts: Every candidate appearing at the examination is allowed six attempts. This restriction on the number of attempts will not apply in the case of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates who are otherwise eligible.
Selection Procedure for UPSC IAS Exam 2016
Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the examination pattern chalked out by UPSC. The examination procedure includes Preliminary and Main (Written and Interview).
IAS Exam 2016 Exam Scheme
The examination will comprise of two successive stages: Preliminary and Main. Only those candidates who qualify the Preliminary examination can appear for the Main examination.
IAS Pre Exam 2016: The Preliminary examination will comprise of two compulsory papers (objective type; 200 marks each). The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi and English). The General Studies Paper-II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%. Each of the two papers of this examination will be of two hours duration.
IAS Main Exam 2016: The Main Written Examination will consist of the following papers:

Paper-II: General Studies-I (Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society)
Paper-III: General Studies – II (Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations)
Paper-IV: General Studies – III (Technology, Economic Development, Bio-diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management)
Paper-V: General Studies – IV (Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude)
Paper-VI: Optional Subject - Paper 1
Paper-VII: Optional Subject -Paper 2
Interview: The interview will be held to assess the personal suitability of the candidate for a career in public service by a Board of competent and unbiased observers.
How to Apply UPSC IAS Exam 2016
Candidates are required to complete the IAS Exam 2016 Application Form containing two stages viz. Part-I and Part-II as per the instructions available in the above mentioned site through drop down menus. Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs 100 (except SC/ST/ Female/Physically Handicapped candidates). Before start filling up of Online Application, a candidate must have his/her photograph and signature duly scanned in the jpg format.
