Two men from railway families ace the exam
Ramakrishna Chitturi, a 28-year-old man, doggedly pursued his dream. He cracked the Union Public Service Examination (UPSC) twice – becoming an Indian Police Service officer allotted to the West Bengal cadre and then getting into the Indian Revenue Service.
Not content with what most people would have given an arm or leg to become, he gave it a third try and got what he wanted – the IAS, by securing 84{+t}{+h}rank in UPSC 2015 Civic Services Examinations. The younger son of Lakshmi Bramaramba and Prasad Chitturi, a Senior Section Engineer-Signals in Vijayawada division of the South Central Railway, his elder brother works in a travel agency in Vijayawada.
Second attempt this
For Vasana Vidhyasagar Naidu (24), the son of VSLK Durga Devi and Thyagaraju Naidu, a Work Study Inspector at the Rail Nilayam here, it was the second attempt that actually saw him through. He secured the 101st rank.
“I am told that being high on the list, I would anyway get IPS and my home State. While my mother hails from Narsapuram, my father belongs to Bhimavaram,” he said, in a voice that does not hide his excitement.
