The result of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) IAS (Indian Administrative Services) Mains has been further delayed and is expected to be declared somewhere by mid February. All those who had appeared for the exam are required to keep a strict check at the official website www.upsc.gov.in . Last year, the results were declared on February 20, 2016.
The exam was conducted from December 3 to December 9, 2016 in two sessions. The morning session examinations were held from 9:30 am to 12 noon while the afternoon session examinations were conducted from 2 pm to 5 pm.
On December 7, examinations for language papers, Indian languages (Assamese/ Bengali/ Bodo/ Dogri/ Gujarati/ Kashmiri/ Hindi/ Kanada/ Konkani/ Maithili/ Malayalam/ Manipuri/ Nepali/ Marathi/ Oriya/ Punjabi/ Sanskriti/ Santhali/ Sindhi (Devangari/ Arabic script/ Tamil/ Telegu/ Urdu) was conducted in the morning session. The examinations for the optional papers was conducted on December 9.
The civil services examination is conducted annually in three stages -- preliminary, main and interview -- to select officers of the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), among others.
The civil services exam consists of the following two stages:
- Civil services (preliminary) examination (objective type) for the selection of candidates for the main examination
- Civil services (main) examination (written and interview) for the selection of candidates for the various services and posts.
