The Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry is organizing an International exhibition and conference called India Pharma and India Medical device 2017 with the aim to project India as an attractive Investment destination and Global hub for Pharma and medical devices sector. The Indian Pharma 2017 would be a platform to focus on contemporary policy interventions, Ease of Doing Business with the global world, etc. It would push the Indian pharma and medical devices sector in becoming globally competitive. The main objective of the platform is to stress upon the need for India to increase its manufacturing of pharmaceutical ingredients and indigenous manufacturing of Medical Devices. The Government has also set up the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research across the country to work in the direction of research and development in this sector. Also the government is working towards setting up of pharma parks and clusters in various states. In the manufacturing units, there is a major role to be played by small and Medium Enterprise sectors. Thereby, the exports would also increase when there is a mass scale production of pharmaceuticals and medical devices. The programme has been organized in the line of the ‘Make in India’ mission. The pharmaceuticals and medical devices sector are important sectors in the country and needed immediate attention. By the help of this platform, India can discuss the innovations on a global platform and also become globally competitive. There would be an Indian medical device exhibition that will showcase the medical technology innovations in the country. It will cover all segments from preventive to therapeutic care. Moreover, pharmaceutical companies will promote their products to both Indian and International healthcare community, thereby creating new business opportunities.
