A new social media campaign called #WeAreEqual has been lauched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The campaign is supposed to last till March, 8th that is till the International Women’s Day. The campaign is taking place in order to raise awareness against gender discrimination.
Many well known personalities such as film actors Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, and Ms. Dia Mirza; sportspersons Ms. Mary Kom and Mr. Sangram Singh and ISRO scientists Ms. K Thenmozhi Selvi, Ms. Subha Varier and Ms. Minal Rohit and many others are taking part in the campaign.
The campaign will be followed by the Nari-Shakti ceremony which will be celebrated on the International Women’s Day. On the Nari-Shakti ceremony, individuals from various fields of life and several institutions would be honoured by the President for their meaningful contribution towards the women empowerment in the society.
The campaign would help in raising gender equality and also would help in women empowerment which is a strong need of the hour. Raising awareness about gender equality is important in today’s times for every citizen of the country. A lot of development in the country is associated with empowering women.
There has been a tremendous response to the campaign already. The Ministry is handling the facebook page and the twitter page for the campaign. It has received huge responses and a number of people have supported the campaign and women empowerment.
Also an insightful short video would be casted reflecting the views of the general public on gender discrimination and the need for equality. All the posts and news and videos shared can be viewed in the respective pages of the Ministry. This women’s day, we all pledge for equality.
