- Ministry of Defence has given the final approval for the procurement of P-81 Training Solution and LowIntensity Conflict Electronic Warfare System (LICEWS), at a total cost of Rs 2,419.32 crore.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
P-81 Training Solution
- P-81 Training Solution- The Training Solution, along with 10-year comprehensive maintenance service would be brought from M/S Boeing at the cost of Rs 1949.32 crore.
- The P-81 aircraft is designed for long-range anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance in support of broad area, maritime and littoral operations.
- The first P-81 aircrafts were inducted in Indian Navy in 2013 and till now, eight aircraft based at INS Rajali, have been fully integrated into Indian Naval operations.
Low-Intensity Conflict Electronic Warfare System (LICEWS)
- his system will equip Indian Army with upgraded communications infrastructure to effectively deal with advanced communications systems being used by terrorist groups.
HOW THE PROJECT WILL BE HELPFUL
- The better training-The project will help the Indian Navy in training and practical rehearsing for complex missions involving P-81 aircraft.
- High level of security-The aircraft is capable of extending a punitive response and maintaining a check over India’s immediate and extended area of interest.
- The effective communication-The system will furnish Indian Army with upgraded communication infrastructure to effectively deal with advance communication system being used by terrorist groups.
CONCLUSION
- Being the second largest army in the world, we somehow lack in the terms of technology and modernization. The approval will help to undertake military operations in the multi-domain, technology dominated battlefields of the future.
- The deal was earlier cleared by the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) and the final approval has now been given by Indian Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
- The next move is to conclude the final contract with the dealer.
