How should I start preparing for UPSC CSE 2020?(Abhijeet Sinha IAS 2016)

Well, this question has probably been the most asked question to me. And it is as relevant as ever, because as they say a Job Well Begun is a Job Half Done

My recommendation therefore would be to

Develop strong Belief in your reasons for joining civil services. Right motivation acts like an armor that shields against all kinds of difficulties in this Marathon of Preparation.
Start following one newspaper. My personal favorite is The Indian Express. And then use Google extensively for any new and interesting term that you come across. It could be a missile, a government scheme, a personality, a country or anything that you think would be connected to civil services
Start with the NCERT books of class 8 onward, especially for papers like History, Geography and Political Science. No need to worry about making notes etc at this stage. Just read the books like a novel ..For UPSC 2020 This is what you need Click here
Go through educative websites like insightsonindia or iasbaba. They have organised themselves very well and provide free support and resources. Especially try and go through their daily answer writing programs. ( no need to answer though at this stage, just observe the best answers)
Then follow the standard books like Lamikanth, Spectrum, etc ( you can see the complete list on my blog abhijeetsinhaupsc.wordpress.com )
Finally contemplate on which optional to take. I decided and prepared it too late in my previous attempt. I don’t want you to repeat it

Once one is done with these basics, then after subsequent steps like joining test series, making notes, using syllabus properly, etc needs to be done. But that is a topic for another day.
